Support for Sarah, Andy and Castle Rock Farm
As the LNU Lightning Complex Fire ravaged the country roads surrounding Vacaville, CA in the early morning hours of Aug. 19, leaving devastation in its path, Sarah Hawkins and Andy Pestana of Castle Rock Farm had only minutes to flee.
The two breed AGDA registered Nigerian Dwarf goats on their five-acre farm on English Hills Road. There was no time to take any of their over 60 goats or assorted chickens. There was little time to pack any of their belongings. They had to get out and they had to go fast. Even Andy, an apparatus engineer with a Bay Area fire departmnt who has 23 years of experience in the field, was shocked at how quickly the fire moved.
Sarah and Andy lost their entire farm in the LNU Lightning Complex Fire - their home and barn, half of their goat herd which included champion bucks and does, the chickens, farming equipment, bee keeping supplies, milking equipment, tractor and hay bailer and all hay and feed for the animals. About 30 does and older bucks were out in the pasture and survived the fire. Some of the goats in the barn were also able to jump the fencing and survived. Approximately 30 goats were lost. 
In addition to breeding Nigerian Dwarf goats, Sarah and Andy also sold eggs, herbs and seasonal vegetables from their farm and run the English Hills Soap Company. They are also involved in the local and farming community. Sarah served for several years as the farm ombudsman for the Solano SBDC.
Their home AND business has been destroyed in the LNU Lightning Complex Fire and this fundraiser is to help them recover and rebuild. Please donate what you can. Thank you!
