Support for Phil Rushing

On February 3rd 2020, Phil took a 14ft fall from his tree climber at Leaf River and landed on a bed of tree roots. He was medevacked to Forrest General initially following the injury where X-rays and a CT scan were taken. Once the results came in, the decision was made to transfer him, again by helicopter, to UMMC in Jackson. There it was discovered that he sustained a T10-11 spinal cord injury resulting in no feeling or movement below the waist

February 5th 2020, surgery was performed. They were able to decompress his spinal cord and stabilize his back with hardware. Even though the surgery was a huge success he still suffers from paralysis below the waist. A little under a week after surgery a representative from The Shepherd Center in Atlanta came to see Phil and the decision was made for him to undergo his rehab there!! This facility is AMAZING and specializes in spinal cord injuries which is exactly what he needs!

Phil is a contractor and for the foreseeable future is unable to return to work. In addition to all of the challenges that lie ahead for him, he unfortunately has no medical insurance and as we all know medical expenses can be very costly. Any donation large or small can help offset some of these expenses.

We believe that miracles are on the way for Phil and even though the road is long, with his strength and determination he WILL WALK AGAIN!
