My wife has a seizure disorder. Started 3 years ago with a once a year episode but in the past 2 months has turned into a daily problem we combat with medication. We have a 2 year old girl and a 3 month old baby girl. The serious seizures started the day before Thanksgiving and she went to the ER by ambulance. Before I could fill her prescription of Kepra the next day, she had more seizures and returned to the ER again by ambulance. Hospital did a CT scan, MRI, EEG, blood and urinalysis, and other tests. All of them came back negative so they said to see a neurologist. Saw her primary care doctor and the doc agreed that the neurologist is the best bet. Most appointments were 4 months away but they had an opening for a telehealth appointment January 15th..she has been taking her medication but has continued to have 4 more episodes since then. Tonight, Jan 4th she had 6 of them back to back and was taken to the ER by ambulance because I have to care for our two young children. She cannot drive herself and carries huge risk carrying our baby due to the potential for collapse. Luckily I have a small business and can stay home usually as needed, but it can't be often. She has a remote job that she's had to have her boss take over twice now because her episodes happened while she was working..so that job will likely go away. We cannot afford to hire in home health care and don't have any substantial family / friends who can live with us / be at our house daily. Have appointments with social services but I'm not confident they will assist us. Can't get help with insurance until the neurologist gives us a written diagnosis of seizures. So here I am again, in bed with my baby and my toddler , missing work tomorrow while my wife is in the ER... this fundraiser is so we can get at least a month of in home care until we can stabilize this situation and pay medical bills. Needless to say this is embarrassing and a difficult time for us.. just sharing this to your FB feed is appreciated
