Niorka and her husband, Elliot, have faced a series of health challenges over the past three months that have deeply affected their family. Elliot suffered a blood clot in his leg, which kept him out of work at Publix for two months and now limits him to light duty. Niorka, who works as a housekeeper in Palm Beach, underwent a complicated surgery six weeks ago and continues to travel back and forth to her doctor in Miami. Just yesterday, she learned she won’t be able to return to work for at least six more weeks, and she’s worried her job may not be held for her.
