It's Seine and I’m reaching out to ask for your support for the people of Myanmar, especially in Sagaing. A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake has devastated the region, destroying nearly 80% of the buildings, collapsing bridges, and leaving the streets in ruins. The town is in crisis, and people urgently need help.

Sagaing is my home state—it’s where I started my career, and it feels like a second home to me. Seeing this level of destruction is truly heartbreaking. I’ve been following the situation closely (from Bangkok, where I am now living) and have contacted friends in Sagaing who are actively helping those in need. I already collected some money from a few persons but I decided to organise a fundraiser as more help is needed there. I am sharing with you some pictures from my friends that could already support the locals with some of the money first collected.

Right now, there is a severe shortage of food, clean water, and other essential supplies. Many families have lost everything and are struggling to survive. I want to do whatever I can to help, and I know that together, we can make a real difference.

Would you be willing to donate to support the people of Sagaing? Any amount, no matter how small, can help provide food, clean water, and other necessities for those affected.

Hi,

I'm Aurélie Sittler (Lily), I lived in Myanmar for 2 years until the military coup in 2021. I was volunteering and working in an NGO (Mudita Foundation, a school in Shan state). This is where I met Seine, a local teacher. After already years of conflict, I am very sad to see our Burmese friends being hit again, this time by a devastating earthquake. This is why I have decided to help organizing this fundraiser to support them.

All effort of this fundraiser, including fund transfer, will be overseen by me. The fund raised will be transferred to a Thai bank account of a member of the organisation that we’re working with, for which, the fund then will be transferred to a Myanmar bank account. From there, the fund will be handed over to the organisation mentioned earlier. Due to Myanmar climate, transferring funds can be a challenging matter, the only way to do is via a Thai bank account. Due to circumstances, direct transfer to the organisation’s bank account was not being made possible anymore. And, for security reasons, I can’t divulge the name of both the Thai bank account owner and the organisation that we’re working with as everything is being monitored by Myanmar authority, especially when it involves money transfer. Releasing their names could put them at risk.

The organisation involved (Mandalay based) is on the ground and will be responsible in organizing help for the community in Sagaing. The situation and needs in Sagaing were not the same all the time. Drinking water and food were indeed the most needed. But today, shelters and medicine are the priority come raining season. This is the details of the supplies :
