Friends of MORE is a group of lifelong friends of Dr. Susan Northen Lacy from childhood, college, med school and adulthood. We have known her through different phases of life, from a slightly intense child, during the awkward phases of adolescence and through her education, and are thrilled to know her as the strong, compassionate physician who we love and support wholeheartedly. We know that given assistance, her new practice, Modern Gynecology & Reproductive Health or MORE, will continue to grow to support the Memphis and four-state surrounding community and will provide vital education to a new generation of physicians. We see MORE as a practice that can provide a template for excellent, supportive healthcare for others to follow in the future.
MORE, was founded by Dr. Lacy in mid-2019 provide Gynecologic Care, Hormone Optimization and Transgender Care. Transgender healthcare in particular, is a vitally important need throughout the country. Estimates are that 0.5% of the community identifies as transgender and non-binary. In the Memphis metropolitan area that would equal over 50,000 individuals. In Memphis and the surrounding area which includes Arkansas, Mississippi & Alabama, access to Transgender hormone management is very limited. Dr. Lacy has made it part of her mission to provide quality, compassionate and supportive care to this under-represented community. Aside from one other local non-profit clinic, the closest areas to make Transgender Care a clinical priority are 3-4 hours away.
Almost every small business has faced financial challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Medical practices are no exception and studies indicate that 95% of small practices are facing financial difficulties. MORE needs help and support from the community and friends across the country to continue to provide excellent, quality care to all patients.
