Support for Miranda's medical care

Donation protected
Please help a very special young woman who has spent most of her young life giving to others.

On behalf of Miranda’s family, this Go Fund Me page has been created to help assist the Crohan family; to support the medical care of their beautiful 20-year-old daughter Miranda; and the financial burden of the extensive medical expenses they are incurring and will continue to incur in Miranda’s treatment, rehabilitation and recovery.

Miranda suddenly fell critically ill on November 30, 2017, and suffered significant brain injury. She has been in intensive and progressive care units at Florida Hospital Tampa since that time.  She has suffered numerous significant medical complications and undergone extensive testing and treatment over the past two months. Unfortunately, Miranda has not yet made the progress toward recovery that was hoped for. Doctors are working to determine the precise cause of her condition and the best course of treatment going forward. The road to recovery will be a very long journey for Miranda and her family and will likely include extensive therapy (physical, speech, occupational, neurological, hyperbaric oxygen, etc.).

Miranda’s parents, Sherri and Bob, have spent every minute of the last few months by her bedside in Tampa, which is 75 miles from their home in central Florida.

Miranda’s life before she became ill with AE is an amazing and inspiring story. When Miranda was just 18 months old, she was diagnosed with a rare life-threatening cell disease, Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH). She had chemotherapy treatments for 5 years and underwent numerous surgeries to conquer the disease. And though Miranda recovered from LCH, she suffered adverse effects from her prolonged treatment, including permanent damage to her pituitary gland, which resulted in diabetes insipidus.

Miranda worked extremely hard to overcome these obstacles and succeed in school and life, all while giving back to others.

When she was 10 years old, she created Miranda’s Merry Mission, a charitable endeavor to raise funds for holiday presents for sick children at the oncology clinic at Nemours Children’s Hospital, where she had been a patient while sick with LCH.  In the ten years since starting Miranda’s Merry Mission, she has been responsible for providing in excess of $14,000 in gifts to hundreds of sick children. More importantly, she helped bring smiles to the faces of these children. Miranda is always thinking of others and Miranda's Merry Mission is her way of giving back to help other children battling serious illness.

Through her determination and extraordinary hard work, Miranda graduated summa cum laude from high school in 2016 as a member of the National Honor Society and was in her first semester at the University of South Florida in Tampa when she became ill with AE.

Throughout all her years of battling illnesses, Miranda, a true warrior, always rose above any pain and misfortune, and grew to become a brilliant, creative, and wonderful young lady. She is the most compassionate, courageous, kind hearted, and giving person imaginable. She is a unique and very special young lady. In her mom’s words, “a beautiful soul.”

Kindly consider donating to help support this beautiful girl and her family, who are on a very long journey back to health.

Help to SHARE Miranda’s story, and our mission to support Miranda and her family toward her road to recovery.

Please keep #BRaverStrongerSmarter and  #MirandaStrong in your thoughts and prayers!
