Mimi is my best friend, and her family means the world to me. They were on their way to Mexico so Mimi’s boys could finally meet their uncle for Christmas—a trip filled with excitement and hope. But their journey took a tragic turn when a drunk driver hit their vehicle. Mimi and her son Edward were pinned inside the car. Mimi’s legs were trapped, and she could barely move, but her thoughts were only for her family. The moment she managed to turn and see Edward and her children is something that will stay with her forever. Thankfully, Mimi’s husband and her two other sons were unharmed in the accident.

 Edward is now in a hospital in Corpus Christi, fighting for his life. He was rushed into brain surgery and then plastic surgery to repair the damage to his head and face. Thanks to the prayers and support from so many, he is still pushing through, but the road ahead is long. The doctors have placed him in a medically induced coma to give him the best chance at recovery. Meanwhile, Mimi and her family are far from home, facing mounting medical bills, travel costs, and the daily expenses of being by Edward’s side.
