On July 6th Matthew Froste's life was one of uncertainty, while enjoying the after noon at their home in Ashcroft with his wife Kara and two of their three girls Matt stepped outside Kara then heard some strange noises and went to investigate there she found Matt in a state of unconsciousness. A call to 911 was placed and the paramedics rushed Matt to Kamloops while the rest of the family rallied to be by his side.
Matthew had suffered a Type A Disection of his Aorta from his neck to mid leg this caused him to have a stroke.Family gathered as doctors and nurses tried to figure out the next step, that was to send Matt for life saving surgery in Kelowna were he was airlifed . In Kelowna Matthew recieved amazing care he went into surgery at 7:30 pm and came out around 6:30 am the next day the reason the surgery took so long was once the repairs were done and the were closing Matt up his heart stopped this then resulted in a double bypass . The surgen then decided it was best to leave Matthews chest open incase any further interventions were needed and to let his heart recover without the pressure of his swollen chest .During this time Matthew was in a medicaly induced state of unconciousness being that his chest was open . Matthew was making great strides and an amazing recovery so on July 9th he was returned to the OR to have what the family hopes is his last surgery to close up his chest . Up until July 10th Matthew had not been able to move the right side of his body he has made huge strides as he was able to give the doctor a big squeeze and wiggle those toes .There are still some unknowns at this time and that has the family concerned of the future it is unknown how long it will take for him to regain all of his strenght. Matthew is facing a long road to recovery and all the unknowns are leaving the family in destress Kara and the Girls will need alot of support and just knowing that you are all showing your support through this campain will make a huge difference for them and lessen the hardships they will face .
