On February 1, 2026, Marissa and her children, Kyrsten and Aiden, experienced a heartbreaking tragedy that forever changed their lives. Roy, Marissa’s husband of 24 years and her partner for more than 30 years, had been struggling with serious mental illness and emotional challenges for some time. Despite the love, support, and strong family bond surrounding him, his illness overtook him, leading to a devastating incident that resulted in Roy taking his own life. During this tragic event, Marissa was seriously injured. It is important to share that this was never intentional—Roy’s actions were the result of his untreated mental illness, not a desire to harm Marissa or their children. He loved his family deeply. Roy was a devoted father and husband. He taught Aiden how to be a good man, proudly coached Kyrsten’s volleyball team, and was a loving, supportive partner to Marissa. Their life together was built on decades of friendship, love, and shared memories, making this loss even more profound. In the aftermath, Marissa and her children are facing immense grief and emotional trauma. They will need ongoing counseling, therapy, and support as they begin the long journey toward healing and stability. This fundraiser is intended to help ease the financial burden during this incredibly painful time, allowing Marissa to focus on caring for Kyrsten and Aiden and rebuilding their lives. Any support—whether through a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or keeping this family in your thoughts—is deeply appreciated. Thank you for your compassion and kindness.
