Mario Hurtado is a US Veteran and a well-known figure in our community, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Just today, Mario suffered a severe accident when he fell off a ladder and crashed through a plate glass window, severing a main artery and several tendons in his arm. He was airlifted to Abilene, Texas for emergency surgery. While his medical care as a veteran should be covered, Mario now faces a difficult road to recovery and an uncertain timeline before he can return to work.

 Mario is self-employed, working in construction, roofing, and handyman services. His injury means he won’t be able to take on jobs for the foreseeable future, leaving him without income to cover essential living expenses. Rent and utilities are coming due, and the bills don’t stop just because life does. While Mario hopes to receive disability support, that process takes time, and immediate help is needed to keep him afloat.
