Hi my name is Natasha Highton I am 22 years old I want to raise money for Marie Curie Liverpool as it is looking as though it has no future, it’s ward has been shut since July 2024. This is the only service like this that we have in south Liverpool and kills me to hear that we could loose it, it also scares me for my future too. I lost my Dad in January 2024 he was only 53 he’s left behind me my mum and my 3 brothers along with his grandson he only got 2 months with. Marie Curie are the only service that gave us confirmation and clarity on my Dads condition as he was misdiagnosed so many times and his cancer was so rare. They helped us all make a care plan for my dad and were always on the other end of the phone while my mum and the rest of our family looked after him from home up until his last days. They use to allow him to go into the centre every Friday to use their specialist bath which helped keep his dignity without this I know he would of felt lost as it was so hard for him to come to terms with the things he was not able to anymore! From his diagnosis he only had 5 months with us and I believe without the support and care from Marie curie we would have been lost! Even after him passing we have had and been offered counselling and stuff and without it I think I would be lost! My Dad use to raise money for so many places and got involved in many Charity causes in his life so I believe this is my time to Chanel him and his strength to help this amazing place it would be great loss to our community!
