Thank you for taking the time to read this, any and all help will be greatly appreciated in this time of sadness.

2019 was the year that the Pain family was going to have a fresh start- new home, no debts, and no worries. That was until April 5th, when they received devastating news that would change their lives and the lives around them.

After several visits to the hospital complaining about back pain, doctors found a small tumor in Kevin’s stomach. Upon further investigation, Kevin was diagnosed with duodenal cancer, a rare type of cancer that is found in the first section of the small intestine. The tumor was too big to operate, so the doctors started Kevin on chemotherapy and radiation to try and shrink the tumour.

Towards the end of June, things took a turn for the worst and Kevin was hospitalized. He underwent 4 surgeries in 3 weeks, but never lost hope. With the support of his wife, close family, and friends, Kevin gave the fight of his life. On July 18th, doctors confirmed that Kevin had internal bleeding, and for everyone to be prepared for the worst. Despite this, he still tried his hardest to sit upright and smile and have conversations with everyone who entered his room, and continued to worry and care about those who visited him. In the morning of July 20th, Kevin passed away in his sleep.

Kevin was a husband to Marcia, father to four children, Chantelle (27), Melody (20), Cynthia (15), Warren (12), a son to Susan and Robert Pain, and brother to Jason, Ian and Lisa Pain.

He was a motivational leader when it came to those around him, playing ball hockey for multiple years as captain for the SOTE (Scum of the Earth) and the Abby Aces. He earned them multiple trophies and could also play you under the table in a game of poker. He always had a positive attitude, and enjoyed being involved with others in his community. His diagnosis came as a shock to the family and everyone in the community. And even during the last few months, Kevin did his best to keep moving and put others before himself. He was true example of a leader, and instilled confidence in others when felt they lost hope. He was truly a shining star that was lost too soon, but will never be forgotten.
