Since the heartbreaking loss of his father- who passed away from a heart attack brought on by the fear and panic of the war- Manar has been thrust into the role of the sole breadwinner. At such a young age, he now carries the weight of seven others on his shoulders: his mother, his younger brother, and his five sisters.

<div>Right now, they are living through a true catastrophe in Gaza. The situation is critical, with prices skyrocketing and the so-called safe zones in Deir al- Balah narrowing every day. Manar is in a race against time to provide the basics that we often take for granted. Every day is a struggle to find enough food to quiet his little sister's hunger, clean water to drink, and simple clothing or shelter to keep his family safe from the elements.
