Love for Letha

This page was created to help my family deal with a tragic accident that my four-year daughter Letha was recently involved in on 7/29/2019.  My beautiful little girl Letha was the last in line as my kids crossed the road in our trail park to come home. I have taught my children to look both ways before crossing any road even in the trailer park. Then the most unimaginable thing happened. A driver traveling well over the post speed limit struck Letha with her car and was dragged for several feet right in front of our home. The person who hit her stopped and got out of her car briefly to she was she hit. The women offered no help, in fact she got back in her car and drove to her house a littler further up the road.  She never came back to see if Letha was ok nor did she bother to call 911. My husband was at work and I had to pick my daughter up to get her out of the road. All my other kids ranging from 1 to 13 witnessed this tragic accident and me struggling to care for my daughter. With my husband racing home from work, he showed up right before the ambulance arrived. As I climbed into the ambulance, the doors shut, and I saw my wonderful husband caring for are other kids.

With my husband and kids a few minutes behind the ambulance the longest night of my life began.

Once we arrived at the ER. The testing started. Waiting to hear back from the doctor felt like forever. When the doctor came and got us I was hoping for good new. Letha was in such poor shape Doctors put her under a mild sedation to keep her from moving during her MRI and other test.  My Family and I were informed that Letha was struggling to breath due to bruised lungs and they intubated to help her breath. Letha then became stable enough to undergo surgery to remove her ruptured spleen and to stop other internal bleeding. It took two blood transfusions and the amazing surgical team to remove the spleen and stop all the internal bleeding. Now that Letha was out of surgery it was time to address the other issues. Little Letha also has a fractured skull, air pockets in her spin, nerve damage in her face and blood flow restrictions in her curated arty. Most of those things will just take time to heal but we are so glad she is alive and now on the road to recovery.

I’m starting this page to ask for donations to help my family. With my Husband taking time off work and being the only source of income, things will be getting extremely tight. We are asking for help to cover get us back on track financially and maybe a start for potential long-term care for our daughter.  Thank you some much for taking the time to read my family’s tragic story
