Friends and Family,
As most of you know, on Wednesday September 19th John and Lacey found out that their sweet baby girl, Ava Jane Ledford, no longer had a heartbeat. Lacey was a day past her due date and hadn't felt the baby kick for a few hours. She and John went to their OBGYN and found out the devastating news that Ava had died.
Lacey had to deliver Ava the following morning (9/20). She came quickly and they were able to see Ava, love on her and grieve her for a few short minutes before Lacey was rushed off to emergency surgery to stop an uncontrolled bleed. The initial surgery was unsuccessful and an emergency hysterectomy was performed to stop the bleeding and save Lacey's life. In the process of her delivery and 2 surgeries, Lacey lost 5L of blood and was placed on life support Thursday afternoon.
Through the grace of God, Lacey's incredible strength, countless prayers and a fabulous team of doctors at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville, FL, Lacey has made amazing strides in her recovery. As of today (Wednesday 9/26) Lacey has been up and walked a few hundreed feet and has started eating some real foods. Despite her amazing strides thus far - she still has a long road of recovery ahead of her.
Currently Lacey has a port placed for dialysis to help "wake up" her kidneys which are not functioning well on their own. Her blood levels/volumes are starting to improve and her lung is also doing better. She had countless transfusions and is still on pain medication for the surgery/delivery and all of the other things that have come along with this.
This GoFundMe is set up to help alleviate any financial burden they will face with the cost of medical bills as well as the cost of a funeral for Ava Jane. Lacey will be in the hospital for a while longer, will continue to require treatments, check ups, etc. They could use any donation that you are able to give. With much love, a thankful heart and gratitude, John and Lacey are so grateful for each and every one of you and covet your continued prayers.
