Support for Kat's Kritters

Asking for help is a hard thing for me to do, but there are a lot of animals relying on me and in order to continue to help them, I need help from others.
My sole source of personal income for the past 7 years has been from boarding pets through Kat's Kritters Pet Daycare & Boarding (self-employed). The income from boarding has been what I have relied on to cover expenses including mortgage payments, property taxes, and utilities (internet, garbage removal, phone, hydro, vehicle expenses, etc.). Being able to cover these expenses and earn an income has allowed me to also operate my non-profit animal rescue, Kat's Kritters Rescue, focusing rescue fundraising efforts directly on providing care for hundreds of animals over the years. Since almost all of the rescued animals are in my personal care, being able to offer boarding services from the same location, has meant that I could operate both simultaneously, providing care to both boarding animals and rescue animals each day. The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted both the rescue and boarding business heavily. While I have been able to collect some emergency relief from the government, there are many programs which I have not been eligible for, and it has not been enough to replace the income from lost boarding business - which has decreased by 90% due to travel restrictions and more people working from home so not requiring daycare/boarding services. Without this income to cover the expenses noted above, the threat of having to close Kat's Kritters Pet Daycare & Boarding and seek employment elsewhere has become very real.
The workload involved with me being the primary caregiver to all of the animals in rescue, with many of them requiring special care throughout each day and not being suitable to adopt out or transfer to other organizations for reasons of health or behaviour, means that having to close the boarding business and seek employment away from home would mean I could no longer operate the rescue either. The outcome of this would be devastating for me on a personal level, but more importantly for so many animals that call Kat's Kritters home, either temporarily or permanently, and would not have any other options. Kat's Kritters has been my life's work.
I am humbly, and with great difficulty, asking for your help to raise funds to cover the monthly expenses previously covered by my boarding business so that I can continue to operate Kat's Kritters Rescue, and also be around to continue to offer an enriching, safe, loving environment for my furry boarding clients when the world regains some semblance of normalcy and those services are again needed by my clients. I can't imagine a life without Kat's Kritters Rescue and Kat's Kritters Pet Daycare & Boarding and hope together we can find a way to keep both afloat during these trying times.
