<div>On July 13th, our family’s world changed in an instant. Katie and Paul started their morning just like any other, but by the time she got to work with the kids, Jr was in pain and crying about his stomach. What we thought might be a simple virus quickly became something much more serious. After a visit to the pediatrician, Jr was referred to St Mary’s, where an ultrasound revealed a mass near his kidney. He was immediately sent by ambulance to Children’s Hospital at VCU, and a team of doctors began running tests to find out what we were facing. Over the course of the week, we learned that Jr is fighting cancer, though we are still waiting for the doctors to tell us exactly what kind.

<div>This has been a whirlwind for Katie, Paul, Laila, sissy and Jr, and our family is doing everything we can to support them. The funds raised will help cover hospital bills, travel expenses, missed time from work, and the added cost of sitters so Katie, Paul and Jr can be together at the hospital as much as possible. We want to make sure they have what they need to focus on Jr’s care and each other during this difficult time.
