On October 24, 2020 my 2 year old niece Kali was admitted to the local children's hospital. She has been there for more than a week and is looking at an additional 2 - 4 week stay.
Kali's body is not absorbing the protein she needs to be able to function on her own, causing her to become malnourished and for her organs to stop working properly. Her doctor's are trying to pinpoint the cause of her protein deficiency, as it is most likely something she was born with, and come up with a solution. She has been given a feeding tube, catheter and has had blood drawn multiple times a day while she's been there.
Because of the extended time in the hospital, her mom is unable to go to work. Also, due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases, the hospital has implemented a policy where any parent in the hospital with her cannot leave for any reason, otherwise they are not allowed to come back in. Because of this, my brother cannot be at the hospital with his daughter during this time because he has to be at home taking care of their 6 month old baby.
All of this has made an already difficult year even harder. Without being able to work, funds are limited and any help that anyone can give is greatly appreciated.
All funds will go toward food for Kali (because we all know hospital food stinks), gas to and from the hospital to pick up breast milk for little Timothy, and any household expenses such as mortgage, electric, etc.
Kali Grace is such a sweet little girl, we want her to get better and have a healthy and happy life. We will update her progress on this page as her hospital stay continues.
