My name is Joshua, and I am the sole caretaker for my mother, Colleen (Corki), who is 72 years old. In 2020, after receiving a vaccine, my mom’s early stages of dementia progressed rapidly. She began forgetting basic life skills at an alarming rate, and now she has no short-term memory at all. Every day, she needs my full attention and care, which has made it impossible for me to keep a steady job. The stress and responsibility have been overwhelming, and unfortunately, our family isn’t able to help. 
 
For the past two years, I have been applying for reliable work, but unresolved legal issues from a few years ago have made it difficult for anyone to hire me until I can afford the lawyer fees to clear my name. We are surviving on the bare minimum—our vehicle is in poor condition, we can barely afford basic necessities like toilet paper and laundry, and all our food comes from local pantries. We rent a basement unit that once belonged to a family member, but they are hoping to reclaim the furniture and appliances, which would leave my mom without a bed or a place to sleep. The overall well-being of our home has been in constant decline, and our debt grows deeper every day I remain unemployed. 
 
My mom spent her career as an LPN, caring for Alzheimer’s patients when she was healthy. Now, I am doing my best to care for her, but we need help. Any assistance we receive will go toward medical supplies, food, auto repairs, paying off debt, legal fees, and basic life needs. I also hope to invest in a future business to help us become self-sufficient again. Your support would mean the world to us and give us hope for a better future.
