John Reagan has always been an active, loving, and caring individual—an incredible husband, father, and friend to so many. Just a month ago, John’s life changed dramatically when he was hospitalized and diagnosed with Powassan, a rare viral disease caused by a tick bite. This illness is so uncommon that there have been fewer than 10 cases in the United States in 2026. Since his diagnosis, John has been unable to speak clearly and is bedridden. He has required a ventilator to help him breathe and a feeding tube because he cannot swallow on his own. Every day is a challenge, and every day is a miracle as John continues to fight back against this devastating disease.

 The impact of John’s illness has been overwhelming for his wife and family. In addition to the mounting medical costs, they are facing the daily expenses of maintaining their home and life while John remains in the hospital. The emotional and financial strain is immense, and they need our support now more than ever.

 John’s family and friends deeply appreciate and respect the generosity of those around us. There is currently no evidence of a medical cure for Powassan, and the long road ahead is uncertain.
