Joe Danish is my brother, and he’s always been the strong, determined, and independent one in our family. He’s a hardworking animal lover, an amazing brother, and a wonderful uncle. Right now, Joe is facing one of the toughest challenges of his life. He was recently hospitalized at Mayo Clinic with a rare strain of meningitis and encephalitis—a condition so uncommon that only 1% of people have it. There’s no cure, but it can be managed with ongoing care. Joe has been in the hospital for a week, and the days are starting to blur together for all of us. There’s still no clear date for when he’ll be able to come home. When he does, he’ll need home nursing care and IVs, and he’ll be out of work for at least 2-3 months.

 Joe doesn’t have health insurance because his job doesn’t offer it, and this illness has left him unable to work. The medical bills are already piling up, and he’ll need help covering his living expenses while he recovers. Our family is doing everything we can to support him, but we simply can’t cover all the costs on our own.
