<div>Jessie Putre is a 42 year old mother of 2 young boys, ages 10 and 6. She goes beyond limits for her work, family, coworkers and friends. Jessie was diagnosed with an aggressive and recurring form of Breast Cancer by a private clinic (Grade 3, Her2 positive, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma) in March 2024. A week later, she had a total mastectomy. The costs and related expenses for emergency procedure amounted to $15,000, which she had to pay herself because the public medical system failed to act with urgency. With a history of breast cancer in her family, she proactively endeavoured to get a mammogram last year but was turned away by her general practitioner due to being a woman under 50 years of age. When she noticed a lump in her breast this year, she again turned to her family doctor for help but was told she would have to wait for her check-up as he was headed on vacation. Considering the alarming circumstances, Jessie made the right decision seeking private medical treatment. Unfortunately, it was too late as the cancer had already spread to her lymph nodes. Consequently, she now needs to undergo chemotherapy and radiation therapy in addition to receiving an antibody treatment specifically tailored for the 15-20% of women with breast cancer who are also Her2 positive.
