Support for Jeschke Family (Fishers, IN)

Please join us in supporting the Jeschke family as Mikki undergoes intense chemotherapy.

Mikki was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 with Stage 4 cancer.  She fought a great fight and was in remission until 2012 when she was informed that the cancer had metastasized to the bones of her spine and hips. As she continued oral chemotherapy, the cancer spread in 2015 to her liver. For nearly 3 years, the cancer was contained until May of 2018.  Over the past 8 months, the doctors have tried multiple types of chemotherapy to no avail. In December, we sought out two second opinions and both agreed with the direction of treatment that has been established by IU.  Unfortunately, Mikki has rough days with pain and fatigue as a result of these multiple rounds of chemotherapy.

As of February 19, 2019, scans show that the cancer has continued to grow on her liver and has spread to a lymph node in her sternum. The good news is the cancer in her bones remain stable (present but not growing) and no other organs are involved.  In an effort to stop and eliminate the cancer in the liver, the doctors are issuing an aggressive double dose of chemotherapy.  In addition to this approach being an aggressive attack on the cancer, it will also mean a toxic attack to Mikki.

Mikki is expected to experience side effects like extreme fatigue, flu like symptoms, loss of hair (again), nausea…just to name a few.  Mikki and Doug have made the difficult decision for her to go on disability leave and step away from the work that she loves, for now, to focus on her health and put all energy into fighting her cancer. However, the most challenging reality is that disability insurance will not kick in for 90 days and then will only provide a portion of her salary.  The family is attempting to re-budget, but we all know the impact of no salary for 90 days and then a decrease of salary after that point. In addition, Mikki and Doug have two very active boys ages 15 and 12.

We are attempting to raise the money that would make up the difference of her loss in wages and cost of insurance over the next 6 months.  We know that God has provided and will continue to provide for the Jeschkes in many ways.  One of the more recent examples is that the long-term disability option was not available through her employer until January 1, 2019. I assure you God is watching over Mikki and her family and making the most of the horrific disease of cancer.

Please join us in supporting the family as we know that every little bit helps in the journey of fighting cancer.

Thank you for your prayers and love for the family.  So many of you already know that story and have been supporting them for months with meals, gift cards, support through cards and texts.  Your support has been a positive light in the journey.
