Support for Jenna Meier and Family

Donation protected
After breaking her collarbone in July, Jenna began feeling discomfort in the same area in late January. She had some scans done that indicated a tumor had formed. On February 8th she was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, an extremely rare and aggressive cancer that typically forms in and around the bone. She’s currently going through testing to determine what stage classification will be, we are all praying it hasn’t spread. Because Ewing’s sarcomas are so high grade, they’re categorized as at least stage III. Aggressive inpatient chemotherapy treatments (5 days in hospital) will begin soon and continue for around 1 year. The doctors have also advised Jenna on the effects of chemotherapy and need to freeze her eggs; an expense only minimally covered by insurance. This next year will be a battle and will change her life forever.

Although this will not be easy, Jenna is one of the toughest kids out there. Anyone who knows her will tell you she can kick cancer’s ass. She’s an honors student in her junior year at Guilderland High School. She’s also a varsity soccer and lacrosse player and she’s on the Alleycats travel soccer team. Jenna is hilarious, fun, kind, and an overall beautiful person inside and out. She’s a team player, and an amazing friend, sister, cousin, and daughter.

That being said, I wanted to make this fundraiser so the Meier family does not have to worry about bills or other expenses like groceries and gas. Her parents, Kathy and Jim, have three other children; Andrea (Senior at Brockport), Shannon (graduate of URI), and James (sophomore at Guilderland High School). Between Kathy and Jim losing time at work and the effects of COVID-19, they will be facing extreme financial difficulties. I’m hoping that the community can come together and help support the Meier family. We appreciate any donation, word of advice, or even just kind words.

**Update as of 2/18/21**

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to give everyone an up date with Jenna. Jim and Kathy did receive some positive news; Jennas scan was clean. Her tumor is localized which is very hopeful news. She is having the egg retrieval procedure this week and will start chemo later this week.

Jim and Kathy cannot express how thankful they are for all the support from this amazing community. Jenna has an army behind her to fight this. Thank you all!
