James Mason was an avid Duke fan and the heart of the Red Fox @ Prestonwood Country Club, where he served as General Manager. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Jennifer, and their daughters Kendall, Raegan, and Sydney. James was also cherished by his mother Helen, his sister Sonya, and many other treasured family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Mason, Sr. James was a dear friend to me and to so many others—his infectious smile and quiet confidence made every visit to the Fox special. He was a true professional, passionate about his craft, and always willing to lend a hand, whether bussing tables, serving, or simply offering a kind word. His humility, deep wine knowledge, and love for his family and faith were just a few of the qualities that set him apart.

James’s impact went far beyond his work. He was a loyal Christian, always ready to share his faith and offer support. I’ll never forget the day he noticed I was struggling and invited me to sit with him upstairs. He took my hand and prayed for me, an act of kindness I’ll always remember. That’s who James was—a man of infinite wisdom and a gentle soul who cared deeply for everyone he met. The Fox hasn’t been the same since he left, and we all feel the loss deeply.

James left us far too soon, and while I don’t know the details of his family’s financial situation, I do know they could use our support.
