In loving memory of Akylah
On April 22, 2026, Isreal (Izzy) and Nuri lost their mother, Akylah. She loved her children deeply, that was never a question. Whatever life looked like, her kids were her greatest joy, and they knew they were loved.
Nuri is 5 years old about to be 6 May 8 and graduating kindergarten this year, trying to make sense of a loss no child should ever have to face. Little Izzy is 1, so young, but already missing the warmth of her mom’s presence.
Nuri’s dad is raising him full-time, and Izzy’s grandmother, alongside their family, is raising Izzy and surrounding her with everything she needs to feel safe and loved.
But grief counseling, daycare, clothing, food, and stability, none of that comes free. These families are doing everything they can, and we’re asking the community to help carry some of the weight.
A 5-year-old shouldn’t have to grieve alone. A baby shouldn’t have to grow up without knowing she was supported when it mattered most.
If you’re able to give, or even just share this page, it goes directly toward making sure these two babies are taken care of the way their mom would have wanted.
Akylah adored her kids. Let’s show up for them.
With gratitude, The Young Family
