UPDATE - Sadly, Herb passed away on March 25th, 2019. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this fund, and to those who have left such kind comments. It is appreciated. This page will remain active for those who wish to aid the family with the expenses incurred after Herb’s passing.
Herb Couch and his family are in need of your help.
On February 1st Herb had surgery for a brain tumour and has been hospitalised ever since. He is now facing the fight of his life.
Herb was a popular primary teacher in his community of Nelson for 29 years. In his retirement he continues to advocate for many worthy causes. One of the causes he is passionate about and where he has taken on a leadership role was the preservation of Red Sands Beach which eventually led to the Red Sands Beach and surrounding area being donated to the City. His concern for the environment has led him to take up the cause of pollution on Crown land where he documented the environmental contamination.
Other causes he is passionate about are: Proportional Representation, participation in and/or documenting 14 PRIDE parades, Occupy, and many other social justice concerns.
By far and away his most passionate advocacy now and over the past 50 years is cannabis legalization, which continues to this day. He is the Sensible BC coordinator for the West Kootenays and continues to maintain a Facebook page for that group.
Following his retirement, Herb and his wife Kathy have worked tirelessly for the well-being of their community and beyond. It is now that they could really benefit from your support.
Any donations to this Gofundme project will be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks for your attention.
