This is for Hazel Monceaux, 73yrs, living on a very limited income, severely affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Her house was flooded by Hurricane Harvey. She lost nealy everything and needs assistance immediately. Please help where you can!
Hazel and Chris Monceaux, her son, left this house early in the morning before dawn to get to my sister’s house (Kara Castillo) after the septic tank started to back up into the house. They packed necessary needed items and took off down highway 73 to Nederland. The truck they were in couldn’t make it. The flood water started to pour into the truck. Luckily there was a boat nearby to take them to a shelter. My mom, Hazel, is only 4 feet tall and once out of the truck couldn’t even touch the ground. She couldn’t get in the boat so she held onto the side of the boat until they got to a less flooded area and was able to touch the ground and get into the boat. My sister Kara picked her up at the shelter after sunlight. She’s been at my sister’s house ever since.
The family started cleaning up over the weekend and the damage was overwhelming! Hazel has lost everything in the house. including all the beds, dressers, & mattresses. Her car was ruined as was my brother’s truck. Being on such a limited income and all of us putting our money together will not be enough to put the house back together. There is floor damage throughout the house and it will need to be carpeted. We are praying that there won't be mold damage.
The funds will be spent to get Hazel the necessary items to get her back on her feet and living a normal life again.
