The most heartbreaking of those hard decisions was laying off 9 of our team members.
We'll be totally real with you all: it is highly unlikely we will still have a business when all of this settles. For now we are doing absolutely everything in our power to keep fighting for survival. It may be hard to understand, but temporarily laying off our employees was absolutely necessary. Our industry survives off of razor thin margins, and we simply don't have the cash flow to continue paying out wages for even a single week without revenue. If the business is able to traverse this uncertain time, our employees will have a job to return to.
The reality for our business is that, even though the odds are stacked against us, we do still have some options to try to pivot and keep some parts of our business going. Unfortunately, this isn't exactly true for our former employees. As of this moment, access to financial support is still a challenging process, very convoluted, and it's unclear what kind of federal assistance will be coming. They can't wait and see how it goes, they need some help right now.
We're starting this fund to try and get some cash directly into the pockets of our team. Monsoon will not benefit in any way as a business, 100% of the money will be divided equally among our 9 former employees.
We know that many business and individuals in our community need help right now. Please consider whether or not you are able, and if so, spread the love around.
