Mrs. Edith Chukwujekwu, passed away on March 30, 2026 after a long and courageous battle with Corticobasal Degeneration—a rare and devastating neurological illness. Diagnosed in 2013, Mrs. Chukwujekwu faced years of gradual decline as the disease affected her movement, coordination, speech, and thinking. Throughout this time, Nonso, her son, took on the responsibility of her care, managing hospital visits, therapy, imaging, medications, and everything else needed to support her. It was not easy, but she unquestionably deserved to be cared for with dignity.
Mrs. Edith Chukwujekwu was the peace that held the Chukwujekwu family together. She had a way of keeping everyone grounded, and her sacrifices shaped Nonso’s life, including his move to the United States in 2003 for education. On March 23, 2026, she was rushed to the emergency room at Grandview Medical Center due to respiratory complications caused by pneumonia and was moved to the ICU. Despite every effort, she passed away peacefully on March 30th at around 10:00 AM CST.
Now, Nonso and the Chukwujekwu family are arranging for her to be transported to Lagos, Nigeria for burial, where most of the family resides. The costs of her care, transportation, and funeral are significant. We are deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support shown during this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness has brought comfort to our family as we navigate this loss. As we work to honor our loved one with a proper burial, we humbly ask for your support in helping us cover these expenses. Any contribution, no matter the amount, would mean so much to us. Thank you again for your compassion, generosity, and for keeping our family in your thoughts.
