Support For Earle & Kelly Harrison
My name is Liz Nogueiro and I live in Marin County, CA. My family and I have been puppy raisers for Guide Dogs for the Blind since 2014. We are currently raising Newhart (#5) and Denmark (#6).
Our 3rd GDB Puppy, Agassi, was paired with Earle Harrison who lives in Minnesota with his wife Kelly and her GDB dog Ricochet. We have gotten to know Earle & Kelly and even got to take care of Agassi & Ricochet a couple years ago while they went to Hawaii. They are lovely people and we feel lucky to know them.
Unfortunately, Kelly & Earle both contracted Covid -19 in November. Since then, Earle has been hospitalized in critical condition. Obviously, he has not been able to work and to complicate things even further, Earle had recently changed jobs which affects his health insurance.
Here is their story:
COVID timeline
• November 14th Earle’s brother Todd passed away from COVID.
•On November 18th Earle was admitted to the University of Minnesota hospital with COVID.
•On November 27th he was placed on a ventilator and the situation was critical.
•5 days into the time on the ventilator it was determined that he also needed dialysis.
•He spent 17 days on a ventilator.
•Do to the length he needed to be intubated he has a long road to recovery with lots of therapy and will need continued dialysis.
Before all of this happened Earle was a strong healthy guy. He has traveled the country as a sales representative for HIMS Inc and recently took a position as a technology instructor. Because of the job change we have had an insurance switch and will have another on the first of the year.
There is a long road to recovery for Earle. He will likely be moved to an acute rehab facility for intensive rehab to build strength and regain the use of his body. He will also need to have continued dialysis for now. We are not sure if and when the kidneys will start working again.
Financial stress is the last thing Kelly & Earle need as they focus on the most important thing:Earle’s recovery and healing! Please help if you can. Any little bit helps.
Thank you!
