Support for duPont Family

Our dear friend and co-worker, Josh duPont, and his family are going through a very strenuous time. In late November 2019, Josh and his wife, Sarah, were blessed to find out they were expecting their second child. However, shortly after the news of their pregnancy, Sarah became violently ill and she was barely able to walk. They went to the hospital but doctors could not figure out what was causing her symptoms.

Practically overnight Sarah lost 90% of her hearing and began to lose her vision. After visiting with several specialists Sarah was diagnosed with Susac Syndrome, a very rare autoimmune disease.

Susac’s attacks the tissue lining in the blood vessels of the eyes, ears and brain. Due to the swelling in the blood vessels patients suffer loss of hearing, sight and neurological issues. Sarah is not currently eligible for treatment due to her pregnancy and the longer treatment is withheld the more irreversible and permanent the symptoms become. Once the baby is born, Sarah will have to undergo 2-4 years of treatment, adjust to hearing aids all with a new infant to care for.

As you can imagine, this unexpected medical situation has created a devastating financial crisis for Josh and his family. After insurance coverage, the remaining medical and basic living/support expenses will create a life-altering burden of debt. This Go Fund Me has been established to ease this burden so that the duPont family can focus on Sarah’s healing.

Josh has been a police officer for the past 9 years with the Apache Junction Police Department but has been unable to return to work for several months as he is required to provide Sarah with round the clock care as well as child care for their daughter who is almost 3. In order to keep his family insurance he will eventually have to return to work with the additional worry of funding care for Sarah, their young daughter and eventually, a newborn.

All proceeds will go to Josh and Sarah to cover medical costs and support expenses.
