Support For Dillon's Family (Missing Person)

Donation protected

Dillon Joseph Vermeeren was last seen on Saturday, August 21st

Dillon (aka Dolphin/Dolph) is a 6'4" Indigenous (Ts'msyen/Haida) man, missing from the Vancouver area. During this time, his family has taken on a significant search effort while also navigating the emotional upheaval that comes with this type of unexpected, sudden, and heartbreaking experience.

Dillon is a brother, a son, a nephew, and a cousin to many. We are a large family, connected to one another in an expansive web. Dillon highly valued family, communicated often with his sisters who haven't heard from him since his disappearance, and suddenly losing all contact with him is jarring.

Dillon is the funny one, the social butterfly, one of the loudest laughs and the biggest smiles. He's an amazing home cook and an uplifting spirit at family gatherings; he is caring and values his culture. He now also joins the ranks of a disproportionate and harrowing number of missing Indigenous persons.

As o'os (cousin) to Dillon, I am assisting in coordinating this fundraising effort and other volunteer efforts to support his immediate family during this time. While search efforts continue, expenses also accumulate. Rent, flights, and food still need to be paid while energy within the immediate family is directed toward Dillon. Having some financial support means the family can have some breathing room as they process and fight to find answers and bring Dillon home.

What $5000 can do for the family:

  • Cover rent expenses for Dillon's place so the family has more time during investigation and before tackling gathering his things
  • Cover flights for Dillon's immediate family who needed to travel to Vancouver unexpectedly
  • Support in covering food and other necessities while work time is diverted to searching and moving through the difficulty of this experience

Even small donations can make a big difference right now, but so does sharing this, keeping an eye out, and putting up posters in your area. Please keep Dillon and his family in your hearts, and help us give his family even a slight amount of solace during this tumultuous time.
