On Monday, November 24th, my father, David Syeunda Olunga Obanda, tragically passed away in a tragic unexpected accident. His loss has brought deep sorrow to our family, and we are doing our best to navigate this painful time. I am his only child, and although I am far away, I am committed to honoring his memory and supporting the process of laying him to rest.

Because my father lived in Kenya, this tragedy has been especially difficult for my mom and me with the distance between us. We are incredibly grateful that our family and close friends in Kenya are working with my mom to help manage and arrange his services. His service will take place in Nairobi on Thursday. On Friday, he will be flown to Kitale, and on Saturday he will be buried on our family land, in accordance with our customs.

These arrangements involve many unexpected expenses, including the service in Nairobi, transportation, and burial preparations. For this reason, I am creating this GoFundMe to help support the costs of giving my father a proper and respectful farewell.
