My name is Patricia, my son was born on October 9th, 2018 with a mild brain injury that came from fluids on a small area of his brain which is called CMV. The injury caused my son to have epilepsy (seizures) & hypertonia meaning his muscles were tighter than normal. This also caused lack of movement & muscle spasms. From day one my son had been fighting this rare disease and beating it every step of the way. In May of 2022 my son was diagnosed with COVID 19 and had to undergo 2 severe surgeries as well as a blood transfusion . One of the surgeries was a tracheotomy(to help him breathe & open the airway) & the other was a g-tube ( small tube placed in his stomach to help him eat and get any medications needed). This illness slowed D’Andre down a bit but he fought through it and overcame it all. He was placed on a ventilator and monitored to watch his breathing and support him if he failed to breathe on his own. Last year he overcame everything and was able to eat small things by mouth and no longer needed the vent to breathe. On January 7th at 2:00 my son gained his wings due to a seizure which he had in his sleep. My son fought 6 long and hard years and smiled through it all
