Support for Dadu

Donation protected
Dr. Arsenio “Yanky” Abalos has always been a man who helped those in need. In his earlier years, he had a free clinic in his home. He would provide medical care to those who were unable to pay and then give them money to buy medicine. He would even take patients who needed urgent care to the hospital (and then would later pay the bill). At 84 years old, he still holds clinic as a club physician at Wack Wack Golf Club until his recent injury.

On February 9, 2018, Dadu (as he is affectionately known by his grandkids) was rushed to the hospital in the Philippines after suffering a fall that fractured his hip. Due to his declining health condition from previous hospitals, he was eventually transferred and admitted to UERMMC in Quezon City on February 19. He was scheduled for surgery to repair his hip, but it was delayed due to his other medical conditions.

After eleven days of numerous tests, several procedures and blood transfusions, and a surgery to address his kidneys later, Dadu was finally stable enough to undergo surgery for his fracture. The surgery went well and his hip was on the road to recovery. We thought all was well, but then his other health conditions were a concern. A month later, Dadu had his third surgery. A hole was created in his windpipe to help him breathe and a feeding tube was placed to keep him nourished. (Please refer to the timeline for more information)

He's been hospitalized and bedridden since February 9 and with treatment ongoing, the bill continues to rise. While our family is trying our best to keep up with the hospital bills, the medical supplies, and the care Dadu needs, we just can't catch up.

We need your help to make sure he continues to receive the care he needs. In the Philippines, there's no such thing as care now, pay later. Our goal is to raise enough to cover his accumulated medical expenses and long-term care.

We would like to ask for your generosity to help us raise the needed amount for Dadu’s complete healing. Any amount given would be greatly appreciated by our family.
