Cory and Staci were filled with hope and excitement as they prepared to welcome their first baby, Dakota May, in March 2026. Their world changed suddenly when, at just 27 weeks, Dakota was born by emergency c-section on December 4th, 2025. Thanks to the quick actions of doctors and the help of steroids, Dakota’s lungs were given a fighting chance. But after her birth, it was discovered that she had holes in the wall separating the left and right sides of her heart, causing her oxygen levels to drop dangerously low.

Dakota showed incredible strength in her short life, fighting bravely through every challenge. For a brief moment, doctors were able to stabilize her, but despite everyone’s best efforts, Dakota passed away on December 7th, just three days old. The heartbreak of losing a child is unimaginable, and Cory and Staci have faced not only the emotional pain but also the overwhelming responsibilities that come with such a loss—making arrangements, signing paperwork, and saying goodbye far too soon.

Now, as they grieve, they are also facing mounting medical bills, funeral expenses, and lost income from time off work. I realize money is tight everywhere, but I just don’t want Cory and Staci to have more put on their shoulders. Watching them go through these past days—signing for death certificates, choosing music, urns, and funeral homes—they could use a little help. Any support you can offer will mean the world to them as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.
