Support for Christina's Eyes

Donation protected

Hi Everyone,
My name is Christina Porter. I was diagnosed at age 5 with Retina
Pigmentosa (RP). RP is a genetic eye disorder, causing progressive
loss of vision. My vision has increasingly worsened over my life with
the most substantial loss occurring throughout my thirties.

God has blessed me with a husband, Ben, whom I have had the privilege
to partner in ministry for the last 13 years of marriage. Together, we
have been blessed with two uniquely precious girls, Katia and Nadia.

Living and serving with RP has been humbling, enriching, challenging,
pain inducing and freeing. It has been a constant teetertotter of
grieving what I am losing and celebrating what I have left to give. I
have regularly met with eye specialists who have monitored the
progression of my disease but have not, as of yet, been able to
provide me any treatment.

It was not until last year that I was given any hope of healing or
regression of my disease.

Last December, Ben attended a Christian conference in Toronto for
work. It was there that he had what he can only describe as a God
ordained encounter with a guest worship leader from Seattle, named
Evan. Evan had given testimony that God had healed his eyes from RP.
Upon further discussion, Evan had shared with Ben his journey of
healing, leading him to an acupuncturist in Vancouver, BC, where over
the last three years he has regained over 80% of his vision. Only a
short while ago, I was able to speak over the phone with Evan, as he
shared his joy in being able to see the details of his children’s
faces and to drive a car again.

Seeking similar treatment, Ben and I found a friend in Toronto with
similar qualifications. She owns a clinic where she specializes in the same methods as the clinic in Vancouver.
This is a blessing for us to be close to this clinic.

After being given articles of research from a friend and doctor in
support of this treatment, we are stepping out in faith to do this
treatment. I am hoping to do this treatment by the end of the year
(December 2020).

The treatment is expensive, with the initial series of treatments
costing $6,000. We are asking you to prayerfully consider supporting
us in this treatment. We are praying that this treatment decision will
be life changing for me and for all of us as a family.

It is not easy for me to share all of this, but we do covet your
prayers as we continue on this journey.  Thank you for reading this
and prayerfully considering supporting us.

In His love,
Christina Joy Porter
