Dear family, friends, and caring individuals,
Our 4-year-old nephew Carter Hudak, has been battling a brain Avm ( arteriovenous malformation) for quite some time now. Back in February 2017, Carter underwent surgery to treat the malformation with a procedure called endovascular embolization. After a grueling 8 hour surgery and many complications that kept him in the hospitals for a month, thereafter, it was discovered that blood clots had formed in his brain, putting off the two more required embolizations needed to fully treat the malformation. Since then Carter has been on blood thinners to treat the blood clots so he could continue with the much needed surgeries. Two weeks ago, the doctors found out that the brain fluid was putting too much pressure on his brain, and performed surgery to insert a shunt. On Monday, Carter's follow up appointment left everyone hopeful as the doctor said everything looks good, although the blood clots were still there and more had formed :( Tuesday morning, Carter was showing unusual symptoms and was taken to the hospital. Carter was suffering from a brain bleed and would have died if it wasn't for the wonder neurosurgeon who saved his life. Now Carter is in the PICU in serious but stable condition and will undergo several surgeries in the next few weeks.
Carter is the most fun-loving, beautiful, sweet, and pure boy you will ever meet. He brings so much joy and love to our family and those he meets. Carter has a long road to recovery, which means many doctor appointments, and days and nights in the hospital. Our brother is a humble person and would never ask anyone for help, especially financially, which is why we are setting up the account for him. Carter's parents are alternating between work and the hospital so that at least one person is with him at all times, which means they are taking huge cuts in their paychecks. Donations will go toward any medical, gas for traveling, parking fees at the hospital, and bills that they fall behind on, and mostly anything that will make Carter more comfortable before and after his surgeries. All prayers are accepted, encouraged, and welcomed.
