Important Carl Update: Thursday, February 22, 2024

Carl Bauer joined the Angels on 02/22
Completely Calm & Peaceful at 5:55 a.m.
He loved Angel Numbers; I am comforted by that.

The outpouring of love, prayers, condolences and support are also comforting. So many people caring about him and what he means to all of you make me feel a little less alone.

The path ahead is a scary one for me. He and I were an amazing team and felt we could do anything we put our minds to if we did it together. I know he will guide me from above… but now I walk this earthly road without him by my side.

Please continue to send prayers and positivity. This time I selfishly ask this to help me guide me forward. And, while the emotional toll is a devastating one, it also carries with it a heavy financial burden.

Thank you to so many of you who have already donated! I am grateful! And thank you for sharing with others that may have the desire and means to help.

Always with Gratitude,
Stacey

(This is Stacey adding an update. If you are reading this for the first time, please see our story below.)

I apologize for the bluntness of these words; they are extremely difficult for me to write.

Carl’s heart could not keep up with the Ventricular Tachycardia and it is no longer functioning. He is on full life support systems. He is being evaluated to see if he qualifies as a heart transplant candidate.

Please keep praying and sending positive vibes even more than ever. My own heart is breaking… but I am remaining strong and positive for Carl!

Thank you for your support in all ways!
I am grateful.
Stacey

Dear Family, Friends, Community Members and Kind Souls,

I come to you with a heartfelt plea for prayers and support for Carl and my sister Stacey who are facing an incredibly challenging time.

Some of you may know that Carl has struggled with health challenges for many years. Even more of you will be surprised to learn this because you would never suspect by his appearance, active lifestyle, and positive attitude.

On January 30, 2024, Carl was admitted to the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus for cardiac evaluation. Sadly, as of this posting, Carl is in a Specialized Cardiac ICU and the duration of his stay is uncertain.

If you haven’t met Carl, he is an extraordinary man whose resilience shines through a lifetime of health challenges. His warm eyes and welcoming smile reflect his genuine love for life. Despite facing numerous obstacles, Carl approaches each day with gratitude, focusing on the positive in everything and viewing challenges as valuable learning experiences. He has told Stacey that he knew when he was very young that he was put on this earth to take care of people and make a difference.

An elementary school teacher for many years, he and Stacey left teaching after Carl had some strokes and opened GRAZERS Restaurant with a mission of helping people “Eat Better to Live Better,” specializing in allergen-friendly dining and serving fresh foods with identifiable ingredients. Their restaurant is a testament to Carl's unwavering dedication to improving his health and, in turn, contributing to the well-being of others.

The road to where Carl is now has been a complex one. At the young age of 23, Carl experienced his first heart attack. In 2014, he suffered strokes and received a diagnosis of Antiphospholipid Syndrome, a rare blood disorder. In 2019, Tachycardia led to the implantation of an IED (Pacemaker/Defibrillator) ON his 50th birthday, a gift he embraced with gratitude.

Recently, a series of angina episodes brought him to the Cleveland Clinic where a catheterization revealed Coronary Artery Disease. Following successful Quadruple Bypass Surgery, Carl looked forward to life with a healthier heart.

Instead, Carl's heart has baffled some of the best doctors in the world with unexplainable repeated Ventricular Tachycardia (VTach) events. They say he is one of the most unique patients they have ever seen! Whether you've known Carl for some time or are just “meeting” him now, one thing is unmistakable… he is undeniably one-of-a-kind.

Stacey, his devoted partner, has been by his side every step of the way. She is staying nearby to be with Carl as much as possible and to communicate with the doctors at every turn. GRAZERS remains open at this time thanks to the amazing dedication of their staff.

So many kind souls are praying for Carl and sending out positive thoughts for healing. Many have asked if there is anything else they can do to help. As you can imagine, the financial toll of Carl’s unprecedented health journey is quickly mounting. The increased expenses they are facing encompass medical bills, costs associated with Stacey remaining close to the hospital, and greatly increased restaurant costs to keep their beloved GRAZERS open during their absence and to keep their staff employed.

Any donation you can make to Carl and Stacey will help to provide financial support, which, in turn, offers emotional relief as they navigate this difficult journey together. Sharing this request with others for prayers or donations would also be helpful.

Finally, if you are new to the Carl-and-Stacey-Story, you can listen to Episode 6 of the “Kent in Good Company Podcast” which was recorded just one week before Carl’s hospitalization. You’ll get a behind the scenes look at their history and what fueled their passion to open GRAZERS Restaurant in 2015.
