Support for Baby Wren & Family

Baby Wren was born June 3rd and needed quite a bit of help at the beginning of his little life. Wren was sent to the Intensive Care Nursery at Dartmouth Hitchcock  immediately following his birth to receive interventions and testing to best support his unexpected needs after birth. Wren remains in the ICN with his parents staying near by at David’s House to be with him throughout the days and evenings. At this time, doctors are unclear as to why Wren had such a difficult beginning and what the long term prognosis may be. The doctors are pleased with Wren’s progress to date; but the time line for Wren’s discharge from the hospital remains uncertain and is dependent on Wren’s continued progress. 

Wren continues to work hard learning to feed and nurse independently of medical interventions. The family continues to meet with specialists and work with physical and occupational therapists. Currently, Wren remains on oxygen support and a few medications to maintain his medical stability. The majority of planned medical testing has concluded, and it is now a matter of mastering that whole being a baby thing enough to be able to go home, wait, and see what Wren’s life will look like in the long term.

In order to support Wren and his family to focus on their healing after a stressful birth and ICN stay, it is our goal to help alleviate some of the financial burden they are facing. It is expected that hospital bills could approach $6000 after insurance. Micah and Britt are fortunate to have partial parental-leave coverage, but in order to alleviate the financial stress at this time we are also asking for $4000 to allow Britt to remain with Wren. This money allows Britt to focus on Wren’s care and learn to meet all of his tiny baby demands. We deeply appreciate any support folks are able to offer.
