Support for Baby Owen

Owen Thomas Walker was born 9/13/18 weighing in at 4 pounds and 12 ounces to Drew and Brittaney Walker. Sweet Owen was kept at the hospital longer than expected due to rising bilirubin levels and fighting jaundice. He was eventually sent to Vanderbilt for further testing and after stumping the doctors was sent home with news to return later for more testing. He was able to go home on September 21st. While at home Owen was smothered with love by friends and family and gained the weight back he had lost after birth but was gaining weight slowly. After another trip back to Vanderbilt a liver biopsy was ordered  and showed sure signs of biliary atresia which is a blockage in the bile duct between the liver and small intestine. He will have to undergo another surgery  on 10/10/18 called the kasai procedure to fix this problem, but will ultimately need a liver transplant later on down the road. He again also isn’t gaining the weight they are wanting him to gain. He is still able to breastfeed but will only get to throughout the day and he will be fed by tube with formula at night. Please continue to keep Owen and his family in your prayers! They still have a long journey ahead. They predict he will be at Vanderbilt for another one to two weeks. He’s in good hands here and he has been blessed with a great set of doctors and nurses! The money raised here will go toward baby Owens care and medical bills.
