James and Sierra are first-time parents to their son Koda who has had a rough go in the world so far. We are seeking to raise funds to help this little family out with medical bills they have accrued, medical bills they will continue to accrue and monthly bills they are struggling to pay with one income during this challenging time.
On Friday, December 23rd, 2022 at 9:05 PM James and Sierra welcomed baby boy Koda into the world at 35 weeks (5 weeks pre-mature). Sierra was having some complications before baby Koda's arrival with her blood pressure being elevated, protein levels increasing, and headaches which led to the preeclampsia diagnosis.
Koda stayed in the NICU for the next 30 days, in that time he struggled to keep his oxygen saturation up. He failed multiple room oxygen tests, the last one being on 01/14/23 lasting 12 hours. The decision was made to bring him home on oxygen as it was unclear how long he would need to be on it.
On 01/26/23 Koda started to consistently projectile vomit, they took him to see his primary pediatrician who didn't seem too concerned at the time. As that continued for a week and was taken in again on 02/02/23 where he was prescribed an antiacid and ordered an ultrasound to be done at Primary Children's Hospital. That night at 2:00 AM, the vomiting caused Koda to choke so he was rushed up to Primary Children's Hospital ER. They did an ultrasound confirming Pyloric Stenosis ( which is an uncommon condition in infants that blocks food from entering the small intestine), as well as an X-ray to confirm he hadn't aspired while choking.
On 02/03/23 Koda had his Laparoscopic Pyloromyotomy and had to stay overnight to ensure he could take a decent feeding and keep it down. On 02/04/23 Koda was finally discharged.
Sierra had to start unpaid maternity leave early on 12/22/22 and cannot return to work until Koda is well enough to be in a daycare setting.
