Support for Baby girl Silver - Xoti

On May 5, 2018 Baby Silver-Xoti was born an IUGR baby born premature with tracheoesophageal fistula (the two parts of her esophagus, the top and bottom did not connect in utero, the bottom connected to her trachea instead) and esophageal atresia (the narrowing of the esophagus).
A day after her birth she endured her first surgery to repair her esophagus. After three weeks in the NICU and a esophageal dilation she was finally released to be home with her family!
While home she was monitored closely by BC Children's Hospital and was readmitted June 27th for 18 days to undergo 2 more esophageal dilations. Doctors seemed to believe her operation was a success and she was released from hospital.
The joy and excitement was bittersweet as after a few weeks the doctors became concerned as she was choking, and not eating or gaining weight. They assumed she needed another dilation. However, on August 29th she was readmitted as doctors discovered her fistula had returned and reconnected to her trachea. This was causing her to aspirate into her lungs. She was in need of another operation.
This most recent surgery has brought many challenges, during surgery she had an hypoxic episode (her oxygen supply dropped and they had to start chest compressions), and then she experienced a second episode while she was in a medically induced coma in the ICU. After the coma was reversed she suffered a tension pneumothorax (her right lung collapsed) and was back in the ICU completely sedated for a week. Her lung is currently slowly re-inflating but not 100%.
LATEST UPDATE: Two days out of ICU her most recent xray has showed another leak in her esophagus, meaning another surgery in the near future and at least another 3 weeks in hospital.
Baby Xoti is daughter to Mom Zulay, Dad John and baby sister to 3 older siblings. This family of 6 and baby Xoti need all the prayers and support for her health and healing. Baby Xoti has endured more in her mere 5 months of life then many experience in a lifetime.
All money raised will go directly to the family to assist with expenses.
