<div>In March of this year, Akwasi and Marita were excited to learn they were pregnant with their fourth baby. During an ultrasound appointment, the couple were surprised to discover they were pregnant with twins. In the middle of September, via C-section, the twin girls were born 8 weeks early. Due to their prematurity, the sisters were placed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to grow and develop.  From the beginning, the twins have been resilient. Akua has required minimal medical support and has been recently discharged, Atarah is requiring medical/respiratory support due to prematurity,  pneumonia, and chronic lung disease. Atarah is currently sedated, on a ventilator, and it's undetermined at this time when she will be discharged home. Marita, a dedicated Occupational Therapist, has been staying at the baby('s) bedside since their birth, making trips home to visit the couple's older children. At this time, Marita is unable to work and Akwasi is working two jobs to support the family. Due to the unforeseen medical expenses and time off work, this family could use some support. Your donations would help this family focus on Atarah's NICU journey and bring her home to join her siblings, once she is healthy and strong.
