For those who don’t know I was assaulted on February 16th. While trying to stop a mother from beating her children.
i was taken off of work for a week last week to recover. Today I went in for a follow up and I am still advised not to return to work. This will be our now third week in a row of no income coming in for me because the
We never expected in our wildness dreams that this sort of assault would leave me with a concussion and unable to work.
me and my husband own a small mechanic shop. We are both certified mechanics. Due to the concussion it is unsafe for me to work on vehicles for my safety as well as the customers because simple mistakes can be made with my brain in a fog.
we are not looking to make it a pay day for us. What happened to these children is sickening. Just as what she did to me was not okay and now as parents ourselves we have to be able to pay our bills and provide the needs for our kids.
I know some people were upset at the go fund me we had started. Saying we wanted to profit from this. That they would show me real ptsd. (I’ve had ptsd for 2 decades) this assault did not give me ptsd it just triggered it. I’m sorry if people are offended by us asking for help. We are not ones to ask for help. We would much rather give back to our community. We have run two free pantries in Muskegon and Muskegon heights (we’re the first to start them). We do multiple free jobs throughout the month and sometimes week for customers who can’t afford a repair of just need a break from an added expense. We do monthly give aways through our business just to give back. We purchase items to help the unhoused stay warm during the cold months. We try our best to give back as much as we can. I’m not saying all these things to brag but just so those who think we are asking for help for a pay day can understand that money is not what our motivation is in life. However we do still have to pay our bills and this assault has set us back.
