<div>In September, our world changed when my dad was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). ALS is a cruel and progressive disease that affects the nerves and muscles, gradually robbing a person of their ability to move, speak, eat, and eventually, breathe. While life expectancy varies, most people with ALS live just 2–5 years after diagnosis. More importantly, every day becomes about preserving quality of life—and holding onto the things that bring comfort, familiarity, and joy.

<div>Five years ago, my Dad and Kerri built their dream home in Blind Bay, just outside of Salmon Arm. It’s more than just a house—it’s where memories are made, where family gathers, and where my dad finds peace. It’s also where my kids love to be, especially in the summer, spending their days swimming in the lake and making memories with their grandpa. Staying in this home means everything to him—and to us.

<div>Unfortunately, because it’s a basement-entry home, stairs have become a major challenge. The ALS Society has been an incredible support and has helped in many ways, but one thing they’re unable to provide is a stair lift. After getting two quotes, the cost to have one installed—including equipment, setup, and installation—ranges from $14,000 to $20,000.

<div>This is where I’m asking for your help. I’m hoping to raise funds to offset this major expense so my dad can safely remain in the home he loves, without having to give up yet another piece of his independence.
