Sadly Alan Wickey passed away unexpectedly at the age of 44 years from heart complications on the 8th April after putting up a 5 day fight at the Austin Hospital.
A warrior to the very end, Alan James Wickey, a proud Wiradjuri, Bundjalung & Jinibara man, was a loving partner to Paula and a devoted dad to his four beautiful daughters Alice Rose 24, Bella Rai 21, Jedda 13 and Gymea 11.
Alan was born and raised in Preston, Melbourne to Rieo Ellis and Alan Wickey SR (deceased). Loved dearly by all of his Ellis/Wickey family especially his younger siblings Kevin, Snakey, Mandy, Natashia, Kurriki and Rebekah (RIP). Alan was the big protective brother but to mum Rieo, Alan was still her baby.
A man of culture and highly respected in the Melbourne/Victorian Aboriginal community. Alan was a founding member of Black Connections and a master traditional weapon maker who strongly believed in justice & land rights for his people. Alan was also known for his deadly sense of humour, big laugh and being the life of the party at the family gatherings and celebrations!
In support of our brother Alan, his partner Paula and their children during this heartbreaking distressing time we would like to kindly request donations from the community to help cover cost for the funeral and provide financial relief for his children's education and sporting needs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The man, the myth, the legend, the King of Preston! Alan James Wickey will be terribly missed by his family, close brother boys, sister girls and the Koori community.
Another warrior gone to the dreamtime to be with the ancestors. RIP big brother.
