Robotics Team USA FGC 2018

In early May, the FIRST Executive Advisory Board, co-chaired by Kevin Ross and Dr. Woodie Flowers, nominated us to be the FIRST Global Team USA 2018 . We are eleven students from the Montgomery County School district who will represent the United States of America at the 2018 FIRST® Global Challenge (FGC ) Mexico City on August 15, 2018. The FGC is an “Olympics”-style robotics event, where FIRST Global invites one team from every nation to participate in an international robotics challenge that builds bridges between high school students with different backgrounds, language, religions, and customs.
As a FIRST® Tech Challenge robotics team known as Wizards.exe , we won the top award at the 2017-2018 World Championship, the Inspire Award. We are now the only team from the US at FGC and are Team USA . The team's goal for FIRST Global is to connect with STEM leaders from other countries and share ideas on "Energy Impact," the theme for this year's competition.
It is an honor and privilege to represent our country, but we need to raise funds to register, travel, and parts for our robot. The estimated cost for sending the team to this event is $20,000. We need to raise these funds in the next month to be able to pay for registration and secure our spot at the competition.
